BNC anchor Laverne McGee remembers the 1963 March on Washington, when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led a massive protest from the National Mall in D.C. to protest inequality.
BNC correspondent Rarione Maniece reports live from Washington, where activists are continuing the decades-long fight and βprotecting the right to vote for Black and Brown communities.β Reverend Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King Jr.βs granddaughter and son were in attendance at the rally and gave remarks just steps away from where the famous βI Have a Dreamβ speech was delivered. Activists say now is the time for Congress to pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, abolish the filibusters and make D.C. the 51st state.
