Seven police officers in Rochester New York have been suspended over the death of a Black man who suffocated after he was detained and a hood placed over his head. The incident took place on March 23rd.
Daniel Prude was having a mental health episode and his brother Joseph called the Rochester Police Department for help. Instead of receiving help, Prude’s head was covered with a “spit sock” and held to the ground for two minutes before he stopped breathing.
Prude was taken to the hospital 15 minutes later and declared brain dead. His death received no public attention until the video surfaced. Today, Daniel Prude’s brother, Joseph spoke about his brother being killed by the police.
