Shooting in Winthrop, Massachusetts Being Investigated as Hate Crime


In Winthrop, Massachusetts, a gunman killed two Black people after crashing a stolen plumbing truck on Saturday. The 28-year-old gunman was then shot and killed by police.

BNC correspondent Dray Clark is live in Winthrop with the latest on the shooting, which is now being investigated as a hate crime. The victims were identified as 58-year-old David Green, a retired Massachusetts State Police officer, and 60-year-old Ramona Cooper, an Air Force veteran who still worked for the military. Investigators found Allen made white supremacist rhetoric that targeted Black and Jewish people. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker called the shooting “a despicable act,” as the state “lost two cherished public servants.”
