Mike Hill Talks Culture at ESPN Amid Rachel Nichols Fallout


On July 4, fireworks were popping at ESPN about a New York Times story about a disparaging video that was leaked involving two reporters.

In July 2020 before the NBA season restarted in the Bubble, Rachel Nichols, who is white, was caught saying that Black reporter Maria Taylor got the job at β€œNBA Countdown” because ESPN was pressured into diversity. This was in a conversation with Adam Mendelsohn, advisor for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and his agent Rich Paul. β€œStart Your Day” hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill, who worked at ESPN for nine years, discuss the culture at ESPN.
