Charles Blow sits down with The Rootβs Michael Harriot to talk about spelling phenom Zaila Avant-garde, who made history on Thursday by becoming the first African American to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
In addition to spelling her way into the history books, Zaila is a basketball prodigy, holding three Guinness World Records in dribbling, bouncing and juggling basketball.
Harriot and Blow also talk about the historical and racial history of the national spelling bee.
