The U.S. economy has been on a roller coaster since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

In the initial stages of the pandemic, the economy has experienced unprecedented lows in consumer spending, employment and stock market indexes racked up huge losses. However, stimulus payments, low interest rates and the stock market have been hitting all-time highs since then. In June, inflation increased at its fastest pace in 13 years. To some, this is an indication the economy is on the rise.

Economist Julianne Malveaux joined Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to discuss the state of the economy.
