A viral video of the arrest of an 18-year-old black woman is causing outrage in Forney, Texas. That’s about 210 miles northeast of Austin, where we are now, and about 20 miles east of Dallas.
Let me set it up for you. Police get a call about someone darting into traffic.
The officer, identified as Conner Martin, arrives on the scene, and Nekia Trigg was who he saw walking down the residential street.
Trigg was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Her mother, Antanique Ray, was arrested and charged with assault of a public servant and interference with public duties. She has been released on bond.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the video and investigating the incident.
