President Biden Speaks on Afghanistan After Taliban Takeover

The Taliban’s power in Afghanistan has continued to grow as its fighters have taken over control of the capital in Kabul.  

As the United States was removing troops from the nation to end the nearly 20-year occupation, the Taliban quickly moved in, gaining control over several major cities. Last week, the Pentagon announced thousands of troops would return and go to the Kabul airport to help with a partial evacuation of the U.S. Embassy. Now, nearly 6,000 troops are expected to arrive this week. President Joe Biden left his vacation from Camp David early to return to the White House. He addresses Kabul’s takeover and explains America’s investment in the country.
