The Pentagon Orders Mandatory Vaccinations for Service Members

COVID-19 infections have been trending upward of U.S. service members.

The number of service member deaths from the coronavirus rose from 25 to 34 as of this week. The Department of Defense reported more than 4,000 new COVID-19 infections among U.S. troops this month.

Those numbers have led Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to order those serving to begin getting vaccinated immediately. He will have Pfizer’s vaccine added to the list of 17 required shots service members must get when entering the military or being deployed.

Jeremy Butler, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, joins Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to talk about the vaccination mandate.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
