Former President George W. Bush Speaks at Flight 93 Memorial

β€œBNC Go” takes us to Shanksville, PA, where former President George W. Bush pays tribute to the fallen at a memorial in honor of Flight 93.

Bush starts his speech with the reminder that 20 years ago, β€œWe all found in different ways and different places, but all at the same moment, that our lives would be changed forever.”

β€œFor those too young to recall that clear September day, it is hard to describe the mix of feelings we experienced,” he says. β€œThere was a horror at the scale of destruction and awe at the bravery and kindness that rose to meet it. There was shock at the audacity of evil, and gratitude for the heroism and decency that opposed it.” The former president says memories of passengers and crew of Flight 93 must always have an honored place, as intended targets became instead the instruments of rescue. Hijackers rerouted Flight 93 to Washington, D.C. but eventually crashed in Pennsylvania when passengers on board tried to regain control. Bush had been in his first term for only eight months when the attacks happened.

All this and more on β€œBNC Go.”
