Nayyera Haq takes us to the World Trade Center, where BNC correspondent Dray Clark reports live on the βheavy mix of pride and painβ he feels in the air.
Clark says itβs a busy but somber and relatively quiet day in the district where the attacks happened 20 years ago. He mentions first responders proud to wear their uniforms, family members carrying around photos of their loved ones, and the survivors who will never forget that dreadful day. In a clip aired on βBNC Go,β 1993 and 2001 attack survivor Frederick Myers says, βThe other thing thatβs significant about 9/11 is, the stories of African Americans get muffled. You hear about all the fire department, the police officers, but you do not hear about the maintenance workers, you do not hear about the people who take out the trash, you donβt hear about the individuals who make sure the hallways are clean. You donβt hear about their stories, [but] many of them passed away.β
