Haiti has been through a lot in recent months, from President Jovenel MoΓ―se’s assassination, to a massive earthquake and flooding due to Tropical Storm Grace.
Many Haitians fled the country and sought refuge in the United States. According to Reuters, some Haitian refugees followed information shared by other Haitians on WhatsApp, that outlined a safe route to the U.S. through Mexico without being caught by authorities.
The Biden administration has resumed deportation flights to Haiti as 86 Haitians were deported from the U.S. back to their home country.
