Pres. Biden’s $55 Billion Promise to HBCUs Cut by Almost $30 Billion

Congresswoman Alma Adams of North Carolina has made it abundantly clear she plans to vote against President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion plan because her colleagues in Congress will not fully fund HBCUs.

Biden proposed $55 billion in funding for HBCUs during the big reveal of the American Jobs Plan. The full budget request then goes to Congress to reconcile the request with their choices. Congress, which is controlled by Democrats, decided to only allocate a total of $30.5 billion.

Senior vice president of the United Negro College Fund, Lodriguez Murray, and president of Clark Atlanta University, Dr. George French Jr., join Nayyera Haq on “Prime” to discuss how Congress decided to compromise on the backs of HBCUs.

All this and more on “Prime.”
