While the number of minority lawmakers has increased dramatically, diversity among staff members on Capitol Hill has remained relatively flat.
According to a study conducted by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, minorities only make up 11% of senior staff positions, with only 3% being Black.
The Congressional Black Associates and Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus published a letter titled βFrom Black Congressional Staff to America,β calling for lawmakers to make an increased effort to hire staff that more accurately reflects America.
