Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina and third woman ever to be appointed to the Supreme Court, is speaking out on pressures people of color face to rise in their careers.
She said to an audience at NYU’s School of Law: “If you are a person of color, you have to work harder than everybody else to succeed. It’s the competitive nature of our society — where you have to prove yourself every day. And I don’t know many people of color who don’t come into this enterprise without feeling that pressure of knowing that they have to work harder.”
Nancy Giles, Emmy Award-winning contributor to “CBS News Sunday Morning” and host of “The Giles Files” podcast, joins Nayyera Haq on “Prime” to discuss Sotomayor’s comments.
