In the Black: Buffalo Starbucks Stores Vote on Union

β€œBNC Live” host Laverne McGee shares Wall Street ending the week on an up note as the DOW gained a little more than 89 points. The S&P went up nearly nine points and NASDAQ went up more than 50 points.

Forty-seven percent of Starbucks employees are people of color, and the coffee company is famously anti-union. Well, the baristas at three stores in Buffalo, New York, will hold union elections next week. If the workers unionize, they will be the first of the company’s 8,000 stores to do so. Starbucks says it’s evaluating its options at this time.

The Labor Department says wages and salaries in the last three months jumped by 1.5%, or more than they have in 20 years.
