As the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.N. acknowledges a shadow pandemic of widespread violence towards women and girls, shining a light and seeking help for solutions. The COVID-19 pandemic caused countries to implement lockdown measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus. An unintentional consequence of those safety measures exacerbated the spread of another kind of deadly virus.
