Immune To Civil Rights Law? FB Business Model Thrives On Virality Of Hate & They Want To Preserve It

Recently on #RolandMartinUnfiltered, Rashad Robinson, president of the Color of Change dropped a heavy truth bomb on us.

He broke down how Facebook is seemingly “immune to civil rights law”.

The civil rights activist explained Facebook’s business model “allows them to have a set of immunity that no other companies have”.

“Tech platforms have immunity under something called Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act, said Robinson.

He added this type of immunity allows platforms like Facebook to “allow all this harm that happens on their platform” which includes the right to run ads that can discriminate , keep people out of job opportunities or bar them from housing opportunities.

When they are taken to court for these civil rights violations, they proclaim they are immune to civil rights law.

Robinson said, “Tech companies should not have this type of immunity [the] only folks that have the type of immunity that tech companies get right now police officers and we know how that works for Black folks”.
