Artist Jonathan Harris Discusses ‘Critical Race Theory’ Painting


One of the main political battlefields in this current moment is the ongoing debates taking place around critical race theory, and impactful artists are the ones who keenly observe and creatively comment on these cultural trends.

Artist Jonathan Harris’ painting entitled “Critical Race Theory,” depicts a white man with white paint rolling over images of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman and Malcolm X. It literally sent shockwaves across social media platforms, garnering passionate responses from so many people with opposing political views.
