New Vaccine Mandates Take Effect in NYC as Omicron Cases Rise

Several COVID-19 vaccine mandates have gone into effect in New York City as the city wrestles with the new omicron variant infecting people at a very rapid rate.

The omicron variant has infected a record number of New Yorkers, leading to long lines at testing sites across the city.

The city’s health commissioner says maintaining vaccinations and booster shots are a winning combination against omicron.

Between now and the new year, New York City is offering people $100 if they receive their booster shot at a city-run site.
