It is day two of the holiday celebration known as Kwanzaa.
The annual seven-day observance of African American culture goes from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 and honors principles like unity, self-determination and purpose.
Each day a candle is lit to mark the principle being honored each day.
Vice President Kamala Harris said on Twitter, “As families across the United States light the red, black, and green candles of the Kinara this week, our family sends our wishes and blessings for a happy and healthy new year.”
