New Covid variant is alerting the Biden administration, calling for Americans to exercise renewed caution about the virus.
The two new highly transmissible variants, BA.4 and BA.5, are spreading rapidly across the country.
BA.4 and BA.5 are offshoots of the omicron strain responsible for nearly all of the virus spread in the U.S. and are even more contagious than their predecessor.
Joining me now to talk about these subvariants is Dr. Justin M. Turner, the CEO of Turner Care and the youngest and first black person to be the Chief Medical Officer of Mississippi.
The United States is reporting over 90 million coronavirus cases and more than one million deaths since the pandemic began.
The administration emphasizes the importance of getting booster shots and wearing masks indoors.
According to the organization ‘our world in data,’ More than 200 million people, or 67 percent of the eligible vaccine population, are fully vaccinated.
