With less than 81 days left before the election, the United States Postal Service is deactivating and removing all mail sorting machines from facilities around the country. These are the same machines that are used to sort ballots. At least 19 sorting machines from five processing facilities have already been removed or scheduled to be.
Mail-in voting is expected to cause a surge in mail for the 2020 election. Trump has said that he wants to withhold funding from the post office.
During an interview with with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business Network, Trump made it clear that he opposes Democrats’ proposed funding for mail-in balloting and the U.S. Postal Service in order to what many are saying rig the election.
Trump said, “Now they need that money in order to make the post office work, so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots … But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting, because they’re not equipped to have it.”
