Donald Trump summoned Michigan’s Republican legislative leaders to the White House today for a meeting. Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield. They agreed to go, but a pretty closed mouthed about why they were there.
When Senator Shirkey arrived at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, a reporter asked him if he would honor the will of Michigan during his meeting with Trump?
Trump’s campaign is trying to get friendly state legislatures to appoint electors who would overturn Joe Biden’s win. If he succeeds, which is highly unlikely, the legal challenges will quickly follow. This has never happened before and is possibly illegal.
After the meeting, the Michigan lawmakers made clear they had not swayed by the president to go along with any scheme to alter the election outcome in their state. [https://abcn.ws/3lZa4by]
