Republicans made a Faustian bargain approximately ten years ago so that they could defeat then President Barack Obama and continued playing footsie with fringe elements all the up through the 2020 presidential election just so that they could obtain and hold on to power.
After last week’s Capitol insurrection it would appear as if the short-sided strategy has backfired on them.
Republicans and Donald Trump have ushered the “deplorables, conspiracy theorist, violent mobs and militias into the political process and now large numbers of these groups vote.
The GOP thought that they could control these elements but after nearly 8,000 insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol, it would appear as if they made a huge mistake.
