Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Sister Dies Of COVID-19 Complications

The sister of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser died on Wednesday from complications related to Covid-19. Mercia Bowser died on the same day the city passed 1,000 deaths from the virus. She was the Mayor’s only sister and she died just short of her 65th birthday.

Bowser wrote in a statement that her sister “Mercia was loved immensely and will be missed greatly, as she joins the legion of angels who have gone home too soon due to the pandemic.”

The Mayor’s statement came as she declared Wednesday a day of remembrance for the more than 500,000 Americans and 1,000 D.C. residents who had died from the disease.
