Chef Jernard Wells cooks up butternut squash and talks health-conscious recipes


Celebrity chef and cookbook author Jernard Wells appeared on Start Your Day with Sharon + Mike for a cooking demo.

“It’s all about flavor and blending fresher ingredients together,” the chef revealed. He went on to talk about switching out starchy foods for healthier options like meat alternatives and more vegetables.

Wells also spoke about his culinary nicknames “the young Barry White of food” and “the young Luther Vandross of food.” He joked that by improving his diet he is working on being skinny Luther after losing 63 lbs.

His latest book “Southern Modified” which he co-authored with Denise Boutté is available now. They created recipes that were healthier versions of the comfort foods we all love.
