Vice President Kamala Harris' line sister talks AKA, life at Howard University

Kamala Harris is the first woman and person of color to serve as Vice President of the United States. As a Howard University student in the 1980s, she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; the first Black Greek Letter Organization founded for college-educated women. Harris’ line sister and college friend Carla Mannings joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about how Greek life and being the product of Howard University played a role in her legacy. Mannings said the way Harris is now is the way she was back in 1986. When it comes to Harris’s decision to strive for the White House, Mannings said Harris went to law school, and life just happened to lead her into politics, where she seeks to fight injustice and right wrongs.
