Judge Peter Cahill rejected Derek Chauvin’s defense’s motion to include the entirety of George Floyd’s 2019 arrest by Minneapolis police officers because it isn’t relevant to the case. He will include part of that arrest from when a police officer approached the vehicle with a gun drawn to when Floyd was handcuffed.
Cahill ruled on 4 key issues in the trial, including deciding to keep the trial in Hennepin County because “I don’t think there’s any place in Minnesota that has not been subjected to extreme amounts of publicity in this case.”
