Boulder shooting: BNC legal expert talks arraignment, possible addition of new charges

The alleged suspect in the mass shooting at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, appeared in court for his arraignment on Thursday morning. Alissa faces ten charges of first-degree murder and the charge of attempted murder was added. Kelley said the attempted murder charge was added after a Boulder police officer said the suspect shot at him and missed. She also said that more charges may be added as more information from the investigation is revealed. Alissa will undergo mental health examinations for two months before returning to the courtroom. Kelley said this is not unusual and explained the difference between competency to stand trial and an insanity defense.
