Black mothers across the country are facing a health crisis. Whether it is combatting COVID-19, diabetes, or just trying to be heard, the struggles continue. Vice President Kamala Harris has said it is due to institutional racism and implicit bias. Dr. Jackie Walters, an OBGYN in Atlanta and a co-star on Bravo’s hit show “Married to Medicine,” and Kim Keck, the President and CEO of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, are teaming up to fight this issue. Walters and Keck joined “Start Your Day” with Mike Hill to talk about their plans to help. Dr. Jackie said they are working to combat the maternal death rate in Black women. “We are working to understand and figure out what we can do to make a difference.” Keck said, “it is a crisis,” and it’s not a one-dimensional problem that cannot be solved with a one-dimensional solution.
