Senate Republicans appear to be uniting in an effort to block a sweeping election reform bill known as the “For The People Act.” On Tuesday, the Rules Committee deadlocked nine to nine strictly along party lines. This is a sign of the battle that’s on the horizon for the legislation. Diallo Brooks, Senior Director of Field Mobilization for the People For the American Way, joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the legislation. Brooks said the Republicans would use any tactic possible to hold up the process of passing this legislation, including the filibuster. Citing comments by Senator Ted Cruz’s comments that the bill suppresses voting, Brooks said the GOP is “hypocritical.”
