Charles Blow sits down with associate professor of history at Ohio State University Hasan Kwame Jeffries about the history of the Tulsa Race Massacre.
On May 31, 1921, a violent white mob descended upon the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They destroyed 35 blocks of businesses and residences, commonly referred to as Black Wall Street, owned by Black residents, 300 people killed and thousands of people were left homeless.
“There is never a time and never a moment where Black people aren’t fighting back against white supremacy,” Jeffries says.
