DOJ Under Fire for Defending Religious Schools Discriminating Against LGBTQ+ Students


The Department of Justice has been forced to revise language in a court filing that initially argued it would “vigorously” defend religious universities accused of discriminating against LGBTQ+ students, amid a lawsuit over funding for such institutions. LGBTQ+ activists blasted the language in the filing, arguing the DOJ’s stance went totally against the Biden Administration’s promise to promote gay rights, including the right of all students to receive an equal education. Congressman Mondaire Jones, co-chair of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, joins Charles Blow to discuss the topic.ย ย
