President Biden signed an executive order addressing the U.S.’ history of discriminatory housing practices and policies.
Biden is hoping to secure equal access to housing opportunity for all.
In a memorandum Biden said “ongoing legacies of residential segregation and discrimination remain ever-present in our society. These include a racial gap in homeownership; a persistent undervaluation of properties owned by families of color; a disproportionate burden of pollution and exposure to the impacts of climate change in communities of color; and systemic barriers to safe, accessible, and affordable housing for people of color, immigrants, individuals with disabilities” and so on.
Biden is hoping to close that gap.
Antoine Thompson, Executive Director, National Association of Real Estate Brokers and Adrianne Todman, CEO of the National Organization of Housing and Redevelopment Officials joined Roland Martin on #RMU to discuss the impact of Biden’s executive order.
