Thursday marks the start of the National Football League Draft. While it comes with instant money and notoriety, it also comes with a lot of pressure. Adisa Bakari, the founder and CEO of The Sports and Entertainment Group, joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss it. Bakari called the draft the commencement of players who started on the journey as children. “This is the beginning of a very real possibility of transforming the financial makeup of the player’s family for generations,” he said. He said a career in the NFL will be the first job many of these players have and it is important for them to know about how to succeed financially. Antione Bethea, a 14-year veteran and Super Bowl Champion, joined the conversation to talk about his experience after being drafted.
