Adults Eligible for Third Shot but Children COVID-19 Cases Have Increased

A mother of four in Galveston, Texas tragically died this week of COVID-19, just two weeks after her husband died.

The tragedy was that neither of them was vaccinated. Hospitalizations for children have increased as the latest figures show more than 120,000 new cases just this past week, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Moderna and Pfizer are still running clinical trials for children ages 5 to 12, but adults are allowed to go for a third shot on Sept. 20.

BNC’s Chief Medical editor, Dr. Corey HΓ©bert, and Dr. Kate Tulenko, former director of the U.S. government’s global health workforce project, join Nayyera Haq on β€œPrime” to discuss why parents can get the third shot but their children can’t get one.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
