Louisville police are looking to fire officers in the Breonna Taylor case. The officer who obtained the no-knock warrant and the officer who fired the fatal bullet that struck Taylor received notice this week, the police department intends to fire them.
Detective Joshua Jaynes, the officer who obtained the no-knock warrant, wrote in a sworn affidavit submitted to a Jefferson County judge that he had verified through a U.S. Postal Inspector that Taylor’s former boyfriend had been receiving packages at her home.
However, that wasn’t the case. According to the police chief, detective Jaynes received the information from Sergeant Mattingly, who got it from another police officer.
The Police department’s spokesperson says these two officers will have the right to a pre-termination hearing before officially being fired.
