Black and Latino Students Impacted by Inexperienced Teachers


Parents and educators have been increasingly vocal about the impact that funding, lack of resources and COVID-19 has had on the education of Black and Latino students.

Separate studies on Black and Latino students found that schools with higher populations of minorities are more likely than schools heavily populated with white students, to be instructed by educators with a year or less teaching experience.

The experience gap between teachers is found to have an immense impact on an educator’s ability to adequately motivate and coach students towards academic achievement.

Eric Duncan, a teacher diversity expert from The Education Trust, joins guest host Laverne McGee on β€œPrime” to discuss.
