Major retailer Bath and Body Works landed itself in hot water with a Black History Month collection that features stereotypes about Black culture. Monisha Edwards, the owner of the candle company Scent and Fire joins βMorning Hypeβ to discuss the backlash.
βThey are a billion-dollar brand and they kind of went overboard with re-packaging their existing productsβ Edwards says.
She also points out that Bath and Body Works could have partnered with Black artisans, candlemakers and creators in the beauty field during Black History Month, but she has never seen any collaborations from the brand.
