Black Women Have Accounted for Most HIV Crimes in Florida


For Black people in America, they are fighting two plagues, COVID and the HIV virus.

There is some disturbing information coming out of Florida relating to HIV. According to a new report by the Williams Institute at UCLA’s School of Law, there have been at least 358 convictions for HIV-related crimes in Florida since 1986. Also, it’s Black women who have accounted for the most sentences at 44%.

Founding Executive Director at the Williams Institute and a co-author of the study on HIV criminalization in Florida, Brad Sears, joined Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to talk about the HIV convictions.
