For Black people in America, they are fighting two plagues, COVID and the HIV virus.
There is some disturbing information coming out of Florida relating to HIV. According to a new report by the Williams Institute at UCLA’s School of Law, there have been at least 358 convictions for HIV-related crimes in Florida since 1986. Also, it’s Black women who have accounted for the most sentences at 44%.
Founding Executive Director at the Williams Institute and a co-author of the study on HIV criminalization in Florida, Brad Sears, joined Charles Blow on “Prime” to talk about the HIV convictions.
