Black Women Help Rescue Black Students Trapped in Ukraine


When events began to unfold in Ukraine, people were shocked to learn that Black people fleeing the war-torn country were being turned away at borders.

Three Black women decided to come together to help aid Black students that found themselves stranded with nowhere to go. The women formed Black Women for Black Lives and raised about $250K through GoFundMe.

Charles Blow spoke with two of the group’s co-founders, Patricia Daley and Tokunbo Koiki, about how they pulled this off and more on β€œPRIME.”
