For the second time in two weeks, the Department of Justice announced an investigation into a police department. On Monday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that a new investigation will take place in Louisville, Kentucky. This comes more than a year after police shot and killed Breonna Taylor in her home. BNC Legal Expert Candace Kelley joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the investigation. She said the it will be sweeping, citing that the DOJ will do ride alongs with officers, talk to members of the community and reach out to officers and employees who retired. Kelley said the Department of Justice will create a list of recommended changes, but individual police departments can appeal and push back against the results.
