Candace Kelley talks significance of paramedics' testimony in Chauvin trial

Day four of the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin featured testimony from paramedics who arrived on the scene to treat George Floyd. BNC Legal Expert Candace Kelley joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the significance of their testimony. “You know the paramedics were able to prove that as soon as they got on the scene, they were able to see that George Floyd was dead, or he flatlined as one person put it,” she said. Citing this testimony from the paramedics, Kelley said this is good for the prosecution because it questions why Chauvin didn’t realize he was dead or if he knew he was dead and kept his knee on Floyd’s neck regardless. She said the prosecution won day four of the trial, but the defense is building their case with evidence of a drug overdose. Floyd was hospitalized for months before his death.
