Carlton Haselrig Denied Settlement Money Due to Race Norming

Yodit Tewolde opens up โ€œMaking the Caseโ€ discussing the story of Carlton Haselrig, who was denied compensation stemming from a $1 billion settlement between the NFL and the Players Association over football injuries and health problems he developed while in the League.

He was disqualified from a settlement because of the evaluation practice known as โ€œrace norming,โ€ which, according to NBC, is โ€œa practice based on the assumption that Black people vary in predictable ways from an alleged biological/cultural norm that is white.โ€

Haselrig died last year from liver disease. His wife Michelle Haselrig and attorney David Langfitt, join โ€œMaking the Caseโ€ to talk about Carltonโ€™s injuries as a football player.

All this and more on โ€œMaking the Case.โ€
