Republicans in Wisconsin are in a wait-and-see mode on whether Republican Senator Ron Johnson, an ally to former President Donald Trump, will run for re-election.
According to a report in The Hill, Wisconsin Republicans are quietly looking at backup plans just in case the unpopular Johnson decides not to run. He made national headlines last week as he told an interviewer that he “may not be the best candidate” for the 2022 U.S. Senate race.
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, who is the first Black lieutenant governor in the state’s history, joined the race on July 20, as he becomes the eighth Democrat to enter the race.
Barnes joins Charles Blow on βPrimeβ to discuss why he is running for the Senate.
