Climate Change and Infrastructure Upgrades Affected Hurricane Idaโ€™s Impact

Ever since Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005, billions of dollars have been spent to prepare and guard the region against the next hurricane.

However, there is the threat of climate change. As Charles Blow said, โ€œYou can’t move the city of New Orleans, which is feeding into the water of the Gulf of Mexico and literally sinking every year, and you can’t take the heat out of the air and the waters, which is what fueled Ida’s strength to intensify because of the unusually warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.โ€

James Shepherd, meteorologist and professor of atmospheric sciences and geography at the University of Georgia, joins Charles Blow on โ€œPrimeโ€ to discuss the impact of infrastructure and climate change.

All this and more on โ€œPrime.โ€
