College debt affected millions of Americans, especially Black people.
According to Federal Reserve data that was analyzed by the Wall Street Journal, households with Black college graduates in their 30s have not been able to close the wealth gap. Eighty-four percent of college-educated Black households in their 30s now have student debt and their median net worth has also fallen 84% to $8,200, from about $50,000 three decades ago.
