DC Jail Issues Ignored for Years Until White Capitol Rioters Arrived

Those involved in the Jan. 6 attack who are already in jail, are garnering attention for the alleged suffering they say they’ve had to endure at D.C. Central Detention Facility.

Two insurrectionists at the facility wrote a letter to a federal judge this week with a list of 77 complaints, including that they must beg for water and medical aid.

Conditions in the D.C. jail, where 87% of detainees are Black, have been unacceptable for years. Washington D.C.’s Attorney General Karl A. Racine said this week the complaints raised about the facility are nothing new.

Patrice Sulton, executive director of the DC Justice Lab, joins Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to discuss this issue.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
