Democrats Concerned About Black Voter Turnout in VA Gubernatorial Race

In one of the final events before Election Day, House Majority Whip James Clyburn stumped for Terry McAuliffe with the explicit goal of boosting Black voter turnout in Virginia.

He told Politico he expects McAuliffe to get β€œThe lion’s share of the African American vote,” but he went on, β€œMy problem is, what will that vote be? Will it be big enough of a vote… to be determinative?”

Democrats are losing sleep over this question as the newest polling shows, Republican Glenn Youngkin is leading McAuliffe by two points.

Charles Blow spoke with Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, to talk about Virginia and other races unfolding on Nov. 2.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
